For the second year in a row, I once again had the privilege of being an instructor at the Face And Body Art International Convention in Orlando, Florida. I enjoyed meeting up with some friends and contemporaries from last year and I had the pleasure of making quite a few new friends along the way. I completed several bodypaintings while there including one that I had been planning for some time now of the very intricate Aztec Calendar. I also did a collaborative bodypainting project that culminated in an underwater photoshoot. For the full story and several of the pictures, check out the webpage that I created for the event at http://www.futureclassx.com/bodypaint/fabaic06/fabaic06.htm .
Contact Magazine organized a multiple
venue event in support of the growing art scene in downtown Phoenix. Many
artists could be found throughout the afternoon and evening creating their art
in gallery parking lots and on music venue stages. I was fortunate to be
doing my bodypainting demonstrations at the hub of the event which was the Paper
Heart Art Gallery. I had not secured a model for the event so I was
counting on people from the audience becoming my canvases. Above are three
off-the-cuff paintings that I did there. The butterflies are painted on Maria
Radloff who runs Holy Click art
gallery in Phoenix.
I first became aware of Sarah Clemen's work when I saw her painting "St. Labia - The Patron Saint of Pornography". The work was on display at the annual exotic art show at the Alwun House Art Gallery in Phoenix. I was immediately a fan of her work. Her photorealistic ability in oil painting is incredible. I seized the opportunity to interview her and subsequently wrote an article that was eventually published in Impulse Magazine. To see Sarah's work, check out her websites at http://www.erosgarden.com and http://www.clemensart.com .
