I painted my son's face like a box of Animal Crackers for American Face Painter Magazine. Jodi Carr produces this fantastic "how-to" magazine for face painters that includes step-by-step instruction for doing successful face painting. I had spoken to her while we were in Shanghai about contributing to the magazine and she let me know that the theme of this issue was going to be CIRCUS. I started brainstorming ideas and for some reason I quickly landed on the the idea of the old animal cages on trains. That thought led me to the box cover of animal crackers and my willing model was my son Zane. My other son, Sage, video taped some of the progress and then I produced a short video showing the making of this cover. It is on-line at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3xFdEeuS5Y .
I'm very proud of both of my sons, Sage and Zane, who had parts in the Horizon Community Learning Center production of "The Music Man" by Merideth Wilson. Zane played Barney Hix (2nd from the left in the red uniforms) and ironically his character was the son of Sage's character, Oliver Hix. Sage (pictured on the right) was one of the barber shop quartet singers and he really did a good job harmonizing with the group. They ended up doing the show for six sold out audiences. Good job guys!
While employed at Creative Designs in Lighting, I was the lighting designer on the renovation of the prestigious L'Auberge Del Mar Resort in California, just north of San Diego. I'm now pleased to announce that this lighting design has been honored by the Illumination Engineering Society with an international Award of Merit. My family and I spent this past New Years Eve in Del Mar so I was able to get some architectural photos of the pool terraces, restaurant, and entry experience. You can see some of the photos on my new website at www.MarkGreenawalt.com, which is still under construction. I started this website to showcase my portfolio of lighting design and engineering projects over my 20-year career in this industry since graduating from Penn State.
