It's Time For Resolutions

by Mark Greenawalt

As we get started in the new year, I hope you all have aspired to make some resolutions like I have and lets hope that we can all see them through.  One of my goals for the year is to make sure that the music industry takes notice of the new kid on the block.  Future-Class X Publishing and myself are primed and ready to make a mark on Nashville, and quite frankly, we have nothing to loose.  Last year my wife's resolution was to quit smoking, like a million other smokers who try to kick the habit every January 1st.  Well this past year my wife actually did it.  I know how tough that was for her and that's enough proof for me that anything is possible..

I bought a book to learn more about building web pages and I plan to use every trick I can to make this an enjoyable site to visit and come back to.  I guess my next step will be to add some music and animation.  A little further down the line I may try giving everyone "real audio" samples of the songs I am publishing and give everyone an opportunity to purchase the tape or CD over the net..

Other than the internet, I am also making my presence known here in Music City (Nashville) by "giging" all over the place.  I am now involved in four projects:

Through it all my resolution is to refuse to be ignored.

Wedding Song Compilation Tape

by Mark Greenawalt

In November, my brother got married up in Pennsylvania (Congratulations Curt & Jean!!!).  For their wedding, I wrote a song entitled "Finally" as well as a another song entitled "Here's To You".  During the reception I played a recording of the first song, but no recording was available for the second song at the time, it was still hot off the press.  Well over the holidays I put together a compilation of these two wedding songs and two other wedding songs that I had written in years past for other friends who were "tying the knot".

I'm not sure what will become of this wedding song collection, but I am considering putting a few other wedding songs with these (possibly from outside songwriters) and formally releasing a wedding CD.  For now the tapes are only for friends and family, but if your in need of some music for an upcoming wedding, we've got you covered.

Other Tidbits

by Mark Greenawalt

Penn State Nittany Lions sure didn't stay number one for very long, maybe next year!!!

I am now a proud owner of a Cowboy Hat and a subscriber to Music Row Magazine,...YEEE-HAW!!!  Thank you Santa Clause and Lori.

I am still working on getting a sound sample of the song "Company Time" on here for everyone's listening enjoyment. It will tentatively be a *.wav file. Check back when you get the chance.  For now the lyrics are written here below.  I'd also like to thank Dawna Bradford and Amy Hailstone for including this song in their set lists.

As far as my schedule, check out Chris and Dawna's web pages for now. I'll update mine eventually.

Song Lyrics - "COMPANY TIME"

by Mark Greenawalt

He called to say he's sorry, he's headed for St. Paul
Lonely Hearts Incorporated won't give us any time at all
He said it wouldn't be to long till he could leave this job behind
But now's the time I need him most and he can't find the time

This should be my time to hold him
I shouldn't be in second place
This should be my time to touch him
But I'm loosing in the race
Work just says they need him and he turns on a dime
And I'm left crying all alone on company time
I'm left crying all alone on company time

Well ever since the big promotion, you know the money's been real good
But it can't buy the happiness I know his open arms would
Now I've been understanding, but soon it's got to end
Let them find another woman with a husband to lend

This should be my time to hold him
I shouldn't be in second place
This should be my time to touch him
But I'm loosing in the race
Work just says they need him and he turns on a dime
And I'm left crying all alone on company time
Yeah, I'm still crying all alone on company time
