Welcome to the "Snow Leopard" bodypainting webpage.  This bodypainting was performed live on a television broadcast of Good Morning Arizona on Channel 3 in Phoenix.  The reason for the telecast was to promote the New Year's Eve celebration at a night club in Scottsdale called Axis-Radius.  The New Year's theme was to be a jungle motif and I was commissioned to paint several models with animal prints.  The promoter of the show was Alfredo of G-Spot productions and he also provided the models.  To see some of the paintings from the New Year's Eve party, click here.

The model for this particular bodypainting is Amy Wicker and the painting took approximately 2 hours to complete.

The idea behind the image was based on a party hat that I had with this animal print.  The paints used on most of her body were Ben Nye face paints.  The white and the tan colors were applied with an airbrush and the black dots are actually liquid latex that was sponged on.

If you are interested in ordering a print from this photoshoot or would like additional information on bodypainting, please feel free to contact mark@futureclassx.com and visit my website at www.futureclassx.com .  Below are several pictures from the session and also a transcript of the on air interview.  Thanks for visiting!

Transcript of the show:

First Segment

Scott:  Tarra, you're gonna love this segment.  I don't know why you gave it to me, but I'm enjoying it so far.  Alright, this is my new friend Amy.  Amy, how are you?

Amy:  Hi, how are you? (shake hands)

Scott:  Great, nice to meet you.  So your going to be painted today?  We're getting ready for a New Year's Eve bash at Axis-Radius and Mark, over here from Future-Class X...

Mark:  (nodding) Future-Class X Publishing.

Scott:  And you body paint.

Mark:  That's what I do.

Scott:  So, kind of a different form of tattooing.  So what are you going to do to Amy today?

Mark:  Today we are going to airbrush her in the form of a snow leopard.  That's what it's going to be.  And we're gonna be using Ben-Nye paint and basically paint her all up.

Scott:  O.K. and we'll talk about the big party on New Year's Eve at Axis-Radius, but why are you doing this? (asking Amy)

Amy:  Because it's new, it's fun, and nobody else will have anything like it.

Scott:  O.K.  Now where are you going to be painted?  From the neck, all the way down?

Amy:  I think my whole body.

Scott:  Your entire body?  How long is this going to take?

Mark:  We're guessing two hours, but it depends on how...you know, it could go either way.

Scott:  O.K.  Well, we'll be with you guys through the morning to show how you do this.  And how will you do it?  Your not doing it with a paint brush?

Mark:  No.  Well there might be some sponged on for the black dots on the leopard, but the white will all be airbrushed on with a Badger airbrush.  I hope Badger pays me for that (smiling).

Scott:  How long have you been doing this?

Mark:  I've been doing this...Actually, I have been into art since I was nine years old or so.  And I got into photography at one point and this was a way to kind of blend photography and art.  I've been doing this now for six or seven months.

Scott:  I've seen your calendar work.  Do a lot of people do this?  Is it popular?

Mark:  It's growing in Europe very strong and actually southern Florida has a lot of it going on.  I think here in Arizona it's new.

Scott:  Well, we're gonna start a trend here.  Do you work from a picture or how do you do it?

Mark:  Yeah, I do a lot of research on the internet to see if I can...Like for this one, I got a few pictures of animals off the internet where I'll kind of steal a little bit here, steal a little bit there, and maybe add my own flare to it if I can.

Scott:  O.K.  Now remember, this is a family show, but does it require a certain body type.  Is Amy the perfect recipient or how does that work?

Mark:  It depends on what your purpose is.  For the show that is going to be put on on New Year's Eve, they wanted dancers so she had to be someone who could dance.  I think they are going to  be putting you (Amy) up on a stage and so forth.

Scott:  So you're going to wear this just for today, but you're gonna get to wash it off after the show, right?

Amy:  Yeah.

Scott:  And then re-do it.  Because I said "Are you going to be wearing this all weekend?" and she's like "No, I'm going to be re-painted."  (laughing)  Have you ever done this before?

Amy:  No.

Scott:  Alright.  This is going to be exciting.  Where are your boots?  Are you going to put on your boots afterwards?

Amy:  No, probably not.

Scott:  O.K.  She had some snow leopard boots.  I thought they'd be perfect for you Tarra (back to the anchor).  Anyway, this is going to be a fun segment.

Tarra:  O.K. then.  That will be fun.  We'll check back with them in a few hours?

Scott:  We'll show you some of the...Well, you saw the one picture that Mark did.  (Camera pan to queen of spades body painting).  That woman is entirely painted.  She does not have on a stitch of clothing.  It's really amazing.  I mean that's great artwork.  Don't you think?

Tarra:  That is incredible.  That is cool.

Scott:  Yeah, it is cool.

Tarra:  I like that.

Scott:  Alright.

Tarra:  Thanks very much Scott.

(End of first segment)  More to come.
