TUACA BAR CRAWL
Tempe - Tucson - Scottsdale
Heather Benson and Melissa Jones were bodypainted three nights in a row for the Tuaca Bar Crawl promoting the coming of the Body Art Ball to Phoenix. The bar crawl took place in the following nightclubs:
TEMPE, ARIZONA (December 1st, 2006)
TUCSON, ARIZONA (December 2nd, 2006)
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA (December 3rd, 2006)
To be quite honest, I had never tried Tuaca before this event, but I got to tag along with the gang on the Scottsdale leg of the tour and tried some. It is an Italian liquore and it goes with quite a few things. I liked Tuaca and apple schnapps quite a bit, but my favorite was Tuaca with Red Bull. Tuaca was doing this promotion to raise awareness about the Body Art Ball to be held at the Marquee Theater in January. The Body Art Ball would be a private party for waitresses and bartenders that proudly served Tuaca in their bars.
I was asked to paint the Tuaca logo on the models. I decided to add a little artistic license by adding an old world map of Italy. I purchased some custom paint colors from Reel Creations so that I could match the deep red that was used on the Tuaca bottle label and I also needed a good gold paint. I spoke to Fred Blau at Reel Creations and he recommended what he called their 14 karat gold paint. It was awesome and really looked metallic on the models.
Knowing that I would be painting the same design on each model three days in a row, I took the time to make a stencil of the logo and one of the Italian map. Quite a bit of the painting still had to be free handed, but this really helped speed up the process. Each day the paintings got a little better by adding little nuances. On day three, I used glued-on jewels in the logo for additional sparkle.
Partying with the people from corporate Tuaca and the local distributor Alliance was really top notch and we had a lot of fun at the Pussy Cat Lounge. I had asked about getting involved with the upcoming Body Art Ball, but they said that they really weren't involved in hiring the talent for that event. I contacted my friend and fellow bodyartist Mark Reid since he was touring with the Body Art Ball team and he said that he would bring me onboard for the Phoenix stop. More on that later...
For now, here are a few 'shots' of the Tuaca Girls.
